Matsubara and Shimonooke Dam Reservoirs
At the upper waters of the Oyama River is a pair of dams, the Matsubara dam, and the Shimonooke dam. The two reservoirs link together forming what appears to be one large reservoir. The main road linking Oyama with Nakatsue and Kamitsue wraps around the reservoir, making for a beautiful, sometimes spectacular, view. The reservoirs are circled with cherry trees, and in the spring delicate sakura blossoms cast their pink and white reflections onto the water’s surface. In the fall trees come aflame with the colors of changing leaves.
