Okuhita

The city of Hita can be divided into two halves, north and south, with the city center, and the majority of the population, located in the north half. The south half is covered by mountainous forests and farmland, and is known as Okuhita, or Inner Hita. Okuhita is made up of four communities, Oyama, Maetsue, Nakatsue and Kamitsue, each with it’s own character. Driving along the roads of Okuhita one will see bubbling rivers and streams, serene reservoirs, deep forests and terraced rice fields, vegetable fields and fruit orchards. There are also many stores, restaurants and tourist attractions. For the more adventurous there is fishing, trekking and camping.
